Watercolor 101 at Allegro
Instructor: Debra Lachter
January 14 – February 18 (6 weeks)
Tuesdays, 1:30 – 4pm
Watercolor is a wonderful medium. Learning how to manipulate water and pigment while having fun is a thing of beauty. “They” say watercolor is the hardest medium. I beg to differ. I say, learn some basic techniques, get comfortable with the medium and play. Building a skill set and practicing regularly builds confidence and confidence leads to play.
Goals:
To learn the basics, build confidence and have fun
Basics include getting to know the medium: watercolor choices, paper, brushes and techniques.
Students will learn how to set up a basic palette. We will make a color wheel while learning which colors mix well and which to avoid. A little bit of color theory made fun.
Students will learn basic techniques such as; washes, painting wet in wet, wet on dry, lifting, dropped in color, blending and more during the 6 week class.
I intend to create an environment where students will realize success with easy lessons and develop as individuals. Once we have the basics under our belt and if time permits, we will do some exploration with intuitive painting.
