Painting Adventures with Van Gogh

Use post impressionism techniques like the master himself with acrylics in this beginner’s workshop.

This class is designed to inspire students to create post impressionistic artwork. We will study the Post Impressionists, especially Vincent Van Gogh, and his unique approach to painting boldly on canvas, interpreting the reality he saw with a dreamlike and visionary, perception. We will study the way he used his color palette to achieve his artwork. Videos are used throughout the workshop to help guide the learning and painting experience.

Materials:

1 to 3 canvases for finished paintings (11×17 and square canvases work well)

Acrylic paints (various colors of interest but should include primary, black and 2 whites tubes)

10 brushes in a variety pack

Sponges (cosmetic wedge sponges from big box stores or Publix)

Palette Knife Set (Amazon or Michaels online)

Medium to Large Paper Plates for Palette Use
