Experience an exclusive tour of the Tallahassee International Airport followed by an art reception for the new exhibit, “Art is an Abstraction, Isn’t It?. Learn some of the fascinating behind-the-scenes functions of Tallahassee’s airport. Following the tour, we will attend the art reception and Tom Friedman will lead a walk around the gallery as he explains a representative number of pictures. Using his works, Tom will discuss how he often begins with either an idea or a shape.  As he develops each picture, he is always cognizant of tone, color, textures, and composition.  As a work grows, he may find a theme or subject residing there, even though it may not be what he originally intended.  He will show how one can’t hide deficiencies in abstracts (unlike in some representational works).  Each abstract must create its own world, hopefully with enough objects and other characteristics that will allow the viewer to be attracted to it and to enjoy the work. The show will run at the airport gallery from July 12 – September 4, 2024.
Transportation from the TSC. Limited space available for airport tour so registration is required. $7.00 fee.

If you wish to attend Tom Friedman’s presentation without the airport tour, you can drive yourself to the airport and arrive by 2:30 pm for the art reception and walk around the gallery with the artist.
