Have you ever wondered why Tallahassee was chosen as Florida’s capital? Or why the downtown streets were laid out the way they are? Or what indigenous people were living here when Tallahassee-Leon County was founded 200 years ago? Author Doug Alderson will answer these questions and more about our capital city’s early history as the featured speaker of the L3X closing luncheon.

Lunch will be lasagna (regular or veggie), broccoli salad, roll, and brownies. Deadline: Tues. 9/24 Noon

Speaker: Doug Alderson

His books include Traveling Florida’s Seminole TrailAmerica’s Alligator, Waters Less Traveled, New Dawn for the Kissimmee River, and A New Guide to Old Florida Attractions. He has won six first place Royal Palm Literary awards for nonfiction books, three gold medals from the Florida Authors and Publishers Association, and several other state and national writing and photography awards.
