  • 015 What Happened to Lake Jackson?
     September 13, 2021
     3:30 pm - 5:00 pm

Harley Means, Assistant State Geologist with the Florida Geological Survey, will discuss the recent draining of Tallahassee’s Lake Jackson and the geology of the surrounding area. Learn about how the history of water fluctuation in the lake is related to the Karst topography of the region, the sinkholes in the Lake Jackson basin, and the connection to the Floridan Aquifer which supplies our drinking water.

This is a hybrid class that will be offered in person and on Zoom. Participants will be sent an email the day before the class with the Zoom link. If they plan to attend in person, they need to reply to that email to let us know that they will be attending in person.
