007 Florida Archaeological Collections Tour
September 9, 2021
9:30 am - 11:30 am
The Florida Archaeological Collections staff manages over half a million artifacts ranging from tiny chevron beads to full size 16th-century cannons. These artifacts are housed at facilities located on the grounds of Mission San Luis in Tallahassee, while others are on loan to numerous museums and researchers across the country. The collection represents over 12,000 years of human occupation in Florida and includes artifacts from Paleoindian sites through 20th-century sites. Experience an exclusive tour of the facility with collections manager, Marie Prentice, and staff.
Important information:
We are in a two-story facility with no elevator. We will have golf cart transportation available for those unable to handle stairs who would like a tour of both floors of our facility. The lower level of our facility does have narrow passageways, but should be able to accommodate walkers and/or wheelchairs though we’ve not attempted to do this. Please email maureen.haberfeld@talgov.com if you are registered for this class and are unable to manage the stairs so that we can reserve a golf cart.
