Volunteer Coordinator

The Tallahassee Senior Center has an opening for a part-time (minimum of 20-hours per week) Volunteer Coordinator.  This position oversees the Volunteer Program and assists with the Southside Outreach Program.  Primary duties include reviewing and processing volunteer applications, recruiting, interviewing and placing applicants, overseeing volunteer orientation, maintaining volunteer records, managing and updating volunteer policies and procedures, and organizing volunteer recognition events.  Candidate must have strong organizational skills, excellent Word, Excel, and database skills.  Candidate must also have excellent customer service skills and a desire to work with senior adults. Minimum qualifications are at least two years of volunteer and/or work experience and/or at least one year working as a Volunteer Coordinator.

Bachelor’s degree in social work, gerontology, education or related field preferred. Southside Outreach Program Coordinator

The Tallahassee Senior Center has an opening for a part-time (24 hours per week) Southside Outreach Program Coordinator: The purpose of this program is to encourage and provide the tools for seniors to live healthier, more active lifestyles, achieve optimal aging, and be socially fit. Duties of this position include development, coordination, implementation, evaluation, and promotion of senior programs offered in Southside and other under-served Tallahassee communities. Provide individual assistance to seniors as needed, usually in a referral or connecting role. Facilitate health screenings, health education, and other relevant programs to meet the goals mentioned above. Maintain data, conduct surveys, and complete reports required for grant and other funding sources. Prepare information to be shared on websites, social media posts, etc. Represent Senior Services on relevant task forces, work groups, advisory councils, meetings, and community outreach events. Assist with Tallahassee Senior Center Foundation special events.

The ideal candidate would have a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3-years’ experience in senior programming in the area of health education, social work, or gerontology. Must have excellent organizational, customer service, communication, and relationship-building skills. Must have good computer skills, specifically Microsoft Excel and Word, and using databases. Ability to work as a team player essential. Personal transportation required. Salary is $17 per hour. This is a grant-funded, City temporary position and does not include paid benefits or leave time.

Substitute Fitness Instructor

The Tallahassee Senior Center Foundation is looking for dynamic substitute Fitness Instructors to teach 60-minute weekly classes. Must be skillful in tailoring fitness classes to meet the needs of a diverse group of older adults. This position may include opportunities to teach special workshops.

The ideal candidate would be certified and experienced in working with older adults, outgoing and motivating.
Knowledgeable about first aid. Able to pass a background check. Able to work as a team player.
