The Library of Congress is the largest library in the world, with millions of books, films and video, audio recordings, photographs, newspapers, maps, and manuscripts in its collections. It is the main research arm of the U.S. Congress and the home of the U.S. Copyright Office. The Library of Congress was started in 1800 and has a long and interesting history. In this class you will learn about the three buildings on Capitol Hill as well as the sites in Maryland and Culpeper, VA. Instructor, Nell Stranburg, was a docent at the Library of Congress Jefferson building for two years before the Pandemic shut down the Library in March 2020. This will be the first of three classes on the LOC. The other two classes will be offered in October.
